Stare long enough at Ford's Iosis Max concept and you may actually see the next-generation Ford Focus.

That may seem hard to believe, given the Iosis's wild hue, doors, and interior, but we're told that's exactly the case. Given the 'Max' nomenclature and the sliding side doors, though, we imagine this is an even better look at what the next Focus-based people-mover - the C-Max - will be.

Still, we can see how a conventional hatchback can be adapted from this car. Much of the vehicle - especially the front fascia - is a dead ringer for the smaller Fiesta, utilizing elements of Ford's so-called "Kinetic Design" language. Same goes for the interior - those lightweight seats may be a flight of fancy, but we can't help but spot similarities between the Iosis Max's dashboard and those of the production Festiva, Kuga, and Mondeo.

Also destined for production is the Iosis' powertrain. Lurking underhood is a turbocharged, direct-injected 1.6-liter EcoBoost I-4, reportedly good for 180 hp. It's coupled to Ford's new Powershift dual-clutch automatic, and also sports start-stop technology to cut fuel consumption even further.

Look for many of these features and styling cues to work their way into the 2011 Ford Focus, which will once again be shared between North America and Europe.
