Although the wraps just came off the conceptual four-door sports car, Lamborghini and parent company Volkswagen are already examining the possibility of producing the Estoque concept, currently on display at the 2008 Paris motor show.

"If it's a feasible dream but an economic disaster, we cannot propose it," said Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann.

The introduction of the Estoque would change the nature of Lamborghini. Estimated to sell about 2000 units annually, it would double the automaker's production volume. Winkelmann says that Lamborghini is not outfitted to produce so many vehicles at this time.

The Estoque would initially be outfitted with a V-10. However, Winkelmann said Lamborghini could give the Estoque a diesel or hybrid engine borrowed from other VW Group brands.

If approved, nearly four years would pass before seeing the first production Estoque - which would also likely carry a €150,000 ($207,000) price tag.
