From a Dodge O24 to a Chevrolet S10, we've seen all sorts of odd vehicles converted to electric power.  This one, however - a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 EV - takes the cake.

Currently up for grabs on eBay is perhaps the only alternative-propulsion DeLorean known to man - unless, that is, you count the one fitted with a Mr. Fusion system.  The owner saw fit to scrap the wheezy Peugeot-Renault-Volvo 2.8-liter V-6 in favor of a direct-current electric motor.  It's powered not by plutonium, but by a group of thirteen 12-volt batteries.  If our calculations are correct, that's a total of 156 volts - far short of the fabled 1.21 jigawatts.

The owner claims the Electro-DMC has a forty-mile range, a three-hour recharge time, and a top-speed of over (of course) 88 mph.  We like the 'Electric' badging in the original DeLorean font, and the possibility of winning a Flux Capacitor prop if the (substantial) Buy-It-Now price is met.

It may not be as sensible as crafting an EV from a lithe vehicle like an original Beetle or a Lotus - but the way we see it, if you're gonna build an electric car, why not do it with some style?
