We told you about the 2010 Volkswagen Golf lineup, but you were probably left wondering, “What about the GTI?” Now we have some information on the next generation of the venerable pocket-rocket, as Automotive News reports there will be more high-performance Golf variants.

Volkswagen will start with the traditional GTI, which will debut at the Paris motor show in October and likely go on sale in Europe by mid-2009. Automotive News says it will have 210 hp, up by 10 hp from the current model. The all-wheel-drive R32 will also get boost, with output increased to 270 hp, and will be on European roads around November 2009.

The most novel of the performance range is the Golf GTD. It will feature a 170 hp diesel, much like the current TDI, but presumably with increased torque. No word from Volkswagen as to whether we’ll see this model here, but given their renewed push to sell U.S. consumers on clean diesels, it might make sense.
