Muscle car devotees are grinning this morning, having seen the first official photo of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS.

We've already seen (and driven) the entry-level V-6 model, but this is our first look at the top-of-the-line SS model. SS cars come equipped with a 422-hp, 6.2-liter LS3 V-8, similar to that in the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but those who opt for a six-speed automatic will gain Active Fuel Management on their LS3, which disables cylinders under light load in the pursuit of fuel economy.

Expect to see the SS, along with other Camaro models, arrive in Chevy dealers near you in the first quarter of 2009.
