Although operating design studios across the globe has allowed GM to craft vehicles for specific markets, some international vehicles may have their looks styled in the United States.

According to Automotive News, GM wants to assign its main design staff, located in Warren, Michigan, responsibility for vehicles sold outside the U.S.  Those vehicles could include products sold under the Daewoo, Holden, Opel, or Vauxhall brands.

Although it's a strange move, bringing certain programs into the U.S. studios allows GM to better leverage its existing resources.  Designers in Germany and Korea reportedly have their hands full with the upcoming Delta and Gamma platform vehicles.  Those in the U.S. are somewhat less busy - especially following the death of what would have been a rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Impala and Buick sedan.

GM won't specifically say which vehicles are being worked on in Warren, but a spokesperson did hint it's related to subcompact vehicles.  We'll bet that references the new Gamma platform, the basis of the next Opel Corsa and a replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo.
