Workers who normally build the Toyota Tundra have been at work beautifying the city’s parks this week. Toyota had to stop production at its San Antonio truck plant for three months starting in August due to slumping Tundra sales, but did not lay off any workers. Instead, they have been taking part in the company’s Kaizen and Development period.
The workers cleaned up parking lots, painted picnic tables and garbage cans, and planted trees. They are supposed to return to work in November to start building the 2009 Tundra.
