Italy's Fiat Motors has entered into an agreement with the British brand Lotus to produce its own version of the Lotus Elise. The new car will be used to re-launch the Dino badge that has been dormant since 1973.

Fiat says that the new Dino will be about affordable and stylish transportation. The automaker also says that its goal is to make itself known in more niche markets and put the Fiat name on the map for many new people. "Discovering and creating niches is our goal at the moment," said Fiat's CEO Lorenzo Sistino. "We want to open as many new sectors as we can because that is one very effective way of differentiating ourselves from our rivals. It also enables us to attract buyers away from other competitors."
