Andrea Pininfarina Dies in Traffic Accident

We're saddened this morning to learn of the passing of Andrea Pininfarina, the CEO of renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina SpA.

According to preliminary reports, Pininfarina, 51, died after his scooter collided with a moving car in Turin.

The grandson of company founder Battista Farina, Pininfarina joined the company in 1983, serving as program manager for the 1987 Cadillac Allante project.  He was then appointed to general manager of Pininfarina in 1988, and became the group's managing director in 1994.

Pininfarina is survived by his wife Christina and his three children.
