Volkswagen Roadster Concept May Debut at 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show

Volkswagen's Eos not cutting it for you?  Sources within the German automaker suggest that a mid-engine convertible may appear at the 2008 Los Angeles auto show as a concept.

In spirit, the roadster would be a 'poor man's Elise,' attempting to offer similar performance to the famed Lotus.  The roadster could make use of VW's 1.4-liter turbocharged I-4 coupled to a DSG transmission.

Although Volkswagen has shown many drop-top sports car concepts over the past decade (the Concept R is shown above), sources hint that this one may be the most production-ready yet.
