Volvo C80 E85

Volvo is entering a new ethanol-powered C30 race car at Brands Hatch this weekend. The new eco-friendly car will compete in the World Touring Car Championship.

Robert Dahlgren will drive the new car this weekend in Kent, England. The E85-fueled car competed in the Swedish Touring Car Championship earlier this year, and has captured three of seven pole positions, leading almost half the laps in the series.

Dahlgren previously won the Formula Ford Championship at Brand Hatch in 2001, the first privateer to accomplish that feat in 18 years. However, by running E85 in the C30, the car will be ineligible for points.

Volvo is stepping up its development of the car by bringing the C30 to WTCC, and hopes to develop the car to be competitive in the FIA Super 2000 championship.
