VW Beetle

The 2008 Nurburgring 24 is over and it's a Porsche party.

Winning 911

Porsche 911 number 1 has won the 2008 Nurburgring 24. Porsche had quite a run. Eight of the top ten cars overall carry the Porsche crest. Not too shabby for a modified VW Beetle. OK, it's not quite that way these days but still.

V8 Vantage

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage entries finished 1,2,3 in their class. A good result all around. Their V-12 DBRS9 didn't have quite as good of a run (150th overall) but it sounded good while it was on the track. Aston CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez was in one of the V8 Vantages. Not bad for a man who's nearly 65 years old.

VW Scirroco

Volkswagen's three factory Scirroco entries did very well also. They finished 1,2,4 in class. The best finisher was driven by two very big stars, rally man Carlos Sainz and the great Hans Stuck. Plus, the two-door VWs looked very cool on track.

Beers

So, the beer is gone, the cleanup has begun, and I'm eager to get on the plane tomorrow back to the USA so I can enjoy the second half of Memorial Day.
