Danica Patrick's Andretti-Green teammate, Brazilian open-wheel star Tony Kanaan, won five IRL races in 2007, including Twin Ring Motegi. But he struggled to best his diminutive, female teammate last year at Mid-Ohio.
Perhaps he was distracted by his wife's pregnancy. He took her to the airport before the race, then came back and qualified third. Danica qualified second.
When Kanaan's wife heard the results, she called him before the race. "Could you do me a favor?" she asked. "In our motor home, in the bedroom, go to my closet. All the way in the back of the closet, there's a blue dress. Maybe you should wear it next time you qualify!"
Kanaan ended up finishing 4th and Patrick finished 5th.
We were unable to confirm whether he wore the skirt under his firesuit for the race.
