The Journey strikes me as a 7/8th-scale Ford Taurus X, we'll see whether it's similarly overlooked in the marketplace. Seating in the front and middle rows is pretty good, but of course the third seat is really small. Chrysler's penchant for providing numerous cubbies is useful here, but its affection for those barely deformable "cast skin" interior parts is unwelcoming in the extreme. At least the Journey's styling inside and out is more polished than Chrysler's recent efforts. The top spec, 3.5-liter V-6 is workmanlike; the transmission is better. Unfortunately, the shifter's housing feels flimsy and insubstantial as you move the lever into Drive. Details like this are what paint a picture of perceived quality, and Chrysler needs to do better here. As it is, the Journey's strengths are its packaging, feature content, and price.
