Read Joe Lorio's comments on driving the 2008 Lexus RX400h.

More money buys more refinement in Toyota's hybrid hierarchy, but the RX400h still isn't completely seamless. You can feel the electric motor cutting in and out (though it's not as pronounced as in the Prius or the Camry hybrid) and the regenerative brakes are hard to modulate. I got just under 24 mpg on my all-highway commute, essentially matching the Mercedes GL diesel, and 21 in a mix of highway and suburban driving over two days. As for the car itself, it's easy to see why this is a suburban dream machine. The package delivers with its elevated seating position but fairly low step-in height, the flat floor and comfortable chairs treat passengers well, the interior design and finish is suitably luxurious, and the RX is even pretty easy to park and place (with the essential back-up camera).
