2008 Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel

Sure, the E-class interior isn't as fantastic as the cabins of the newer S- and C-class sedans (I particularly can't stand the cumbersome, buttons-aplenty old Comand nav system), but where else can you get a quiet-cruising, wondrously torqueful diesel sedan with a prestigious badge? And the best part is that the diesel costs $53,000 base - a lot of money, true, but only $1000 more than a gasoline-powered E350, while the EPA mileage rating for the diesel is 23/32 versus 17/24 for the E350. The car was surprisingly stable and worry-free through this morning's snowstorm; however, you've gotta be very ginger with the accelerator pedal and stay away from the deep torque reserves, else you could easily overwork the stability control.
