Okay, now I understand the gripes I've heard from some people here and from some of our peers at other car magazines about the C-class's supposed problems with interior materials. The other C-classes I have driven had black interiors, and I think the black goes a long way toward masking the cheapness of the plastics used here. But this C300 4Matic has "Savannah/Cashmere Leather," a $1550 option, and the plastics on the steering wheel and the IP that match that leather really do feel pretty chintzy. This particular color, too, reminds me of the butterscotch topping on a dipped Dairy Queen ice cream cone, which is not the association I wish to have when I slip behind the steering wheel of my $45,535 Mercedes.
