2008 Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel

This diesel sure is noisy and rough when idling at a stoplight just after startup in these arctic temps. But once the engine warms up, all is good and the lazy torque and smooth power band fits this basic spec Mercedes perfectly. It's nice to drive an E-Class with small wheels, conventional suspension, and not a load of options. Sure, it is no sport sedan, but it sure is comfortable. Still, I think the suspension hovers on being too soft and the rear dampers are too soft at low speed. Also, I still don't love the interior of the E-Class as I don't believe its quality and design is good enough for a Mercedes. I find the wood looks cheap and I hate the center console design; it needs a fold down armrest. Still, a wagon version of this diesel would be a perfect family vehicle. It's powerful, safe, and economical.
