Read Rusty Blackwell's comments on driving the 2008 Audi R8.

Holy crap, this car is WILD! Sure, it's really quick, remarkably composed at high speeds, and has mad grip and great traction. It even has an OK amount of storage space for a weekend getaway for two. But to me, what's most striking about the R8 is how otherworldly it looks. As Jean described in our "96 Hours with the Audi R8" story [July 2007], it's about as spaceshippy as they get. While I sat parked outside Kroger while my wife was inside for a few minutes, a Ford mechanic pulled up and started quizzing me on the car. While I was stopped at a traffic light near my house, a guy in an Escort reached over and rolled down his passenger window just to ask me if I had just been on Main Street in Ann Arbor (15 miles away); "this car caused quite a stir," he said. Checking out the car from my living room window, I spied a neighbor guy taking pictures of the R8 with his camera phone, making frantic calls to his buddies (who soon arrived), and just staring at it for about 10 minutes. As crazy as it looks, though, it drives pretty much like a normal car until you start digging in.
