I have never been impressed with the Touareg and this updated model changes nothing. It is too big and too thirsty for the interior space and seat perches available. A Passat wagon does everything this overweight SUV can except go off-road and tow. The throttle calibration on the V-6 is typical VW/Audi; impossible to smoothly drive away from a stop. Once again, this is a perfect SUV to get a diesel. Luckily, it will in 2008. Reliability has been horrible for a few owners I have chatted with. Also, it is looking very long in the tooth and has a surprising number of shakes and shimmies over rough pavement. Sorry VW, but you need to get on the 7-passenger crossover game ASAP if you want to sell anything but cars.
