EDITORS' NOTEBOOK: 2008 Infiniti EX35, Day 2

Read Rusty Blackwell's comments on driving the 2008 Infiniti EX35.

In a lot of ways, the EX35 seems like a G35 hatchback, which I guess is about right, given the cars' shared components. Like the G, the EX is quick, responsive, and agile (particularly for the EX's height). I agree with Marc on most accounts, although I actually like the styling (but not as much as I like the FX), but I can admit that it is a bit caricature-like. Inside, the feel is quite comfortable, with Infiniti's now-familiar keyboard-nav controls. But again, Marc's right: that temp-control knob is right where the volume knob should be.

Man, I thought the FX was tiny; this thing is borderline ridiculous! With the exception of the monstrous QX, Infiniti does a great job of taking the utility out of "sport-utility vehicle." It's a good thing the sport is so prominent, but the EX's small rear doors make rear-seat entry/exit interesting, even for small adults.

I wish I'd had a compact flash card handy so that I could play with that tempting slot above the ashtray ...
