Chevrolet Beat, Groove, and Trax - Front

A quick check of Chevrolet's polling site reveals some not-so-surprising news. Which of the three small Chevys from the New York show do you think is leading in votes?

When we first wrote about Chevrolet's three minicar concepts-Beat, Groove, and Trax-at the New York Auto Show, we told you that the Chevrolet design team felt that the Groove would be the most popular in America. On Chevrolet's minisite, http://www.vote4chevrolet.com, a poll shows that the designers are right. The retro-styled, hot rod-inspired purple hatch has 54.3 percent of the vote. What's actually surprising, though, is how many people have voted. As of the time we checked the site, 774,613 votes have been cast (although we don't know how many people GM has casting votes from the inside.) As you can see from the screenshot below, the racy Beat concept is in second place with 36.1 percent of the vote, with the trucklet Trax bringing up the rear with a measly 9.5 percent. The fact that so many people actually care enough to log on and vote might mean that GM will go follow through and build the Groove. With a number of rear-drive sedans on hold because of CAFE, GM needs some new products in the pipeline, and a minicar surely wouldn't bring with it fuel economy concerns.
