Neiman Marcus BMW M6 Convertible Sells Out in 92 Seconds

Think rich people don't like the polarizing styling of the BMW 6-series? Think SMG transmissions are annoying? Neiman Marcus doesn't think so.

Yes, it's true. All fifty examples of the new Neiman Marcus edition BMW M6 convertible sold in just one minute, thirty two seconds. That's $6,950,000 of sales at a pace of $75,543 per second. The car, finished in Ruby Black paint and featuring piano lacquer interior trim, costs $139,000--a premium of over $30,000 over a base coupe version of the car. To us, this is all proof that many M6s will spend more time as a status symbol in big cities than as real performers at race tracks. We're just waiting for the first complaint of a pair of new-in--the-box Manolo Blahniks getting scuffed due to the SMG transmission's harsh shifts. Or maybe a nail breaking on one of the shifter paddles. Maybe Chrysler should try the same with Crossfire roadsters. What's that you say? They're not even selling on overstock.com? Okay, I take it back.
